Scalar, vector, and tensor fields are used extensively in science and engineering. This course covers the differential and integral calculus of these fields. Topics include the gradient, curl, and divergence, the del operator in general curvilinear coordinates, line integrals, surface integrals, Greene's theorem, Stokes' theorem, the divergence theorem (Gauss' theorem), and the algebra and calculus of tensors. Selected applications from electromagnetism and continuum mechanics will be covered.
PREREQUISITES:
Calculus III (MAT323 or equivalent).
