B.S. in Applied Mathematics Degree

SUNYIT's program in Applied Mathematics educates students to solve real world problems in areas where a knowledge of applied mathematical methods is required. This program provides students with a selection of courses focusing upon applied mathematical techniques. These courses provide a solid background in the more traditional areas of applied mathematics such as Calculus, Differential Equations, and Analysis.

The elective requirements provide a broad selection of modern and cutting edge courses designed to provide our graduates with the necessary mathematical and computational skills needed to succeed in today's competitive job market. These courses allow students to focus on numerical methods and more advanced applied mathematical methods, including mathematical modeling and scientific computing.

A faculty member in applied mathematics will be assigned as an advisor to each student who matriculates into the program. Career advisement is provided regularly by the faculty and SUNYIT's Career Services office. To strengthen their marketability to industry, students are encouraged to minor in another field. Our program is designed so that transfer students who have associate degrees in mathematics or a related discipline can complete the degree in two years.
